<p align="left">How do we in fact <a title="best way to lose belly fat" href="http://www.bestwaytolosebelly.com">lose belly flab</a>? And when we talk about burning fat, what do we actually mean?</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a very straightforward, and simple to understand explanation of what really happens in creating a fat loss effect.</p>
<p>The fundamental view that diet gurus and fitness trainers have led us to believe for years is that it&#8217;s all about our intake of calories versus the calories we burn.</p>
<p>This is true for losing weight &#8211; but it&#8217;s not the complete truth for belly flab loss or fatloss in general, there are a quantity of defensive mechanisms that our bodies have in place, called <a title="how to lose belly fat" href="http://www.mondofacto.com/facts/dictionary?rate-limiting&amp;#43step" target="_blank">&#8216;rate limiting steps&#8217;</a> to prevent fat being lost.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #800000;">On a very primitive level &#8211; Fat burning is in essence a two step procedure.</span></h3>
<p>The primary step is mobilization. We need to make the fat leave the fat cells so we can then use the fat as a fuel source.</p>
<p>Fat mobilization is governed essentially by levels of a hormone known as HSL short for <a title="fat mobilization" href="http://www.nutritionandmetabolism.com/content/3/1/12" target="_blank">Hormone Sensitive Lipase</a>. On general terms, the higher the level of HSL we have then we can mobilize more fat from the fat cells.</p>
<p>So how do we get higher HSL? We need to boost adrenaline or primarily our <a title="adrenaline to burn fat" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catecholamine" target="_blank">catecholamine</a> levels</p>
<p>How do we do that? Simple we exercise. In particular high intensity exercise.</p>
<p>But HSL is also restricted by <a title="lose belly fat" href="http://www.endocrineweb.com/diabetes/2insulin.html" target="_blank">insulin</a>. Therefore high insulin levels mean low HSL levels and hence we don&#8217;t mobilize enough fat.</p>
<p>Therefore a great strategy for part one is low insulin levels which we achieve by the correct diet and easy training plus high catecholamines which we achieve by high intensity exercise</p>
<h3><span style="color: #800000;">The second part of the procedure is transport and oxidation.</span></h3>
<p>If HSL levels are high-level &#8211; fat cells break down into FFA (<a title="fat released from fat cells" href="http://lipidlibrary.aocs.org/Lipids/ffa/index.htm" target="_blank">free fatty acids</a>) which circulate in the blood and eventually finish up in a muscle where they can be burned off in the mitochondria.</p>
<p>But there&#8217;s another rate limiting step here. Transporting the FFA into the mitochondria where it can be burned off. That transport is controlled by <a title="burning fat" href="http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/carnitine-l-000291.htm" target="_blank">carnitine</a> levels.</p>
<p>If carnitine levels are high &#8211; fat transport is high.</p>
<p>A good analogy here would be to compare carnitine to a farm gate.</p>
<p>If you had 100 sheep to herd into a field and there is only one gate, it would take a long time to get all the sheep into the field.</p>
<p>But on the other hand if you had 20 gates, then the sheep would get into the field a lot quicker. So the more gates you have (carnitine) the faster the process.</p>
<p>So I hear you ask &#8220;how do we ramp up carnitine levels?&#8221; Once again we have a rate limiting step. If <a title="building muscle" href="http://journals.cambridge.org/download.php?file=%2FPNS%2FPNS63_02%2FS0029665104000266a.pdf&amp;code=92c9c7215e33ee6d417e3dfa463249ff" target="_blank">muscle glycogen</a> is high then carnitine levels are low.</p>
<p>Therefore we need to reduce muscle glycogen and we achieve that with metabolic work and we have the optimal fat oxidation state.</p>
<p>So high intensity glycogen depleting exercise is chosen.</p>
<p>Putting all the above together, we now have large levels of fat mobilization plus high levels of fat oxidation, which will leave us with our desired accelerated fat loss and a <a title="how to loose belly fat" href="http://www.bestwaytolosebelly.com">vanishing beer belly</a>..</p>
<h3><span style="color: #800000;">Belly Fat Loss Is Basic Biology&#8230;</span></h3>
<p>So if you work out how to combine all those steps, and get around each rate limiting hurdle &#8211; you&#8217;ll find that fat loss is really very simple..</p>

<p>Stomach fat, belly flab, beer gut, it doesn&#8217;t matter what name you give it, it creeps up on you. I realised that my gut had sneaked up on me last June.</p>

<p>So what prompted this mindset to lose my belly flab? Well&#8230;</p>
<p>We were getting ready to have a cracking day out at my mate&#8217;s wedding.
